We are excited to inform you that as part of BSM’s #WellbeingFirst initiative and to ensure all students feel settled and happy at school we have organised a Cross-Curricular Day for Year 7 students at the Capital Area Yacht Club (CAYC), Sidab.
The purpose of the day is to continue to develop your child’s academic knowledge and skills across four subjects: Physical Education, Science, Art and Geography, outside of the school environment. To further grow your child’s feeling of belonging to the BSM community and foster their allegiance to their School House, the day’s activities will be run as a house competition. There is no cost associated with this trip.
Please note that all activities will take place on the beach; however, we will not be participating in any water activities.
Students will need to bring their own packed lunch and water bottle; however, extra water will be provided for those that need it. A polite reminder that even though we are not on the BSM school site, students are still not permitted to bring any food items containing nuts.
Students will be required to arrive at school in their PE kit, including suitable footwear for beach activities (trainers - no flip-flops or crocs etc.) before 7:30am and meet on the AWP. Coaches will be booked for transportation to and from the trip venue, equipped with seat belts and staff allocated to each vehicle.
All students will return to school by 2pm for normal pick up. Please note that students will not be able to meet us at CAYC beach; they must travel with the group.
Please see below for required kit list for the day:
Full PE kit including suitable footwear for beach activities
Packed lunch including snacks
Water
Hat + sunglasses
Hair ties/clips (mid/long hair will need to be tied back)
Sunscreen (factor 20+)
I very much look forward to supporting your child to have an educational and enjoyable day. Please complete this short online consent form for your child to participate in this enriching experience. If you have any questions or queries, please contact Mr. Hughes.
Over the next two weeks students in Years 7,8 and 9 are focusing on their organisational abilities. Part of this is being prepared for school. Students have been reminded that a calculator is required at all times. In the BSM Curriculum booklet we recommend that students have a Casio fx-991CW or Casio fx991EX. These calculators have functions that will still be useful when completing Science and Maths GCSEs in Year 10 and 11. Thank you for your continued support.
