With temperatures across Oman particularly high at the moment, we want to reassure families that the health, safety and wellbeing of our students remain our highest priority. Our Hot Weather Policy is in place and a number of measures are being implemented to minimise exposure to the heat, including indoor break areas, shaded transitions and regular hydration reminders.
Children can become dehydrated surprisingly quickly in hot weather, so we encourage all students to bring a labelled water bottle each day, drink regularly even when not feeling thirsty, start the day well hydrated and choose water over sugary or caffeinated drinks.
Signs of dehydration can include headaches, dizziness, tiredness, irritability, dry lips and difficulty concentrating. Our qualified nursing team is on site throughout the school day and is fully equipped to assess and manage any heat-related concerns promptly. Any student who feels unwell should inform a member of staff immediately and will be referred to the Health Centre for care.
Please read this letter (link below) from the Chairman of the Board of Governors detailing the tuition fees for the next academic year. As a not-for-profit school, all income is entirely reinvested in the provision of education at BSM.
We are absolutely delighted to share the results of our recent British Schools Overseas (BSO) inspection. The inspection team has officially rated British School Muscat as an Outstanding school. This is the highest possible grade and a testament to the hard work of our dedicated staff, our wonderful students, and your continued support as parents.
“British School Muscat is an outstanding school and provides an outstanding quality of education”.
Academic excellence: Attainment and progress in English, mathematics, and science were all judged to be outstanding across all phases of the school.
Exceptional teaching: The quality of teaching, learning, and assessment was found to be outstanding, enabling our pupils to become "confident, capable, and reflective learners".
Student wellbeing: The welfare, health, and safety of our pupils are outstanding, providing an "exceptionally safe, caring, and well-organized environment".
Extensive extra-curricular programme: “The extremely high levels of pupils' engagement in the extensive extra-curricular programme from Year 1 to Year 13 is an outstanding feature of the school.”
Exemplary behaviour and attitudes: “Behaviour and attitudes are exemplary. Pupils are polite, respectful and demonstrate consistently positive attitudes to learning.”

The Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology have notified us that transporting students to and from school in private vehicles for a fee is not permitted under the Land Transport Law and the School Transport Regulations in the Sultanate of Oman.
In light of this, we kindly ask for your cooperation in ensuring that only approved and authorised transport arrangements are used for your children.
Senior School students should be dropped and collected from the following locations (unless they have Primary School siblings or are walking to/from school):
Morning drop off: Bottom of school
End of school day: Top car park*
After activities: Top car park
*If a student is walking home from the Senior School, then they can leave via either the top or the bottom gate, however they must walk all the way home and not be picked up outside of school, as this adds to the congestion.
Please remember, only students in the Senior School who are walking home will be permitted to leave via the bottom car park exit. If your child is being picked up by car and does not have primary school siblings, you will need to use the top car park for pick-up arrangements.
Please can we ask that parents arriving to collect children in the top car park for a 2pm pick-up, do not arrive before 1:45pm. This is to allow our Primary School parents enough time to collect their Y1 and Y2 children safely. Thank you.
Please see our BSM WhatsApp Groups Document for all the links. Please read the code of conduct carefully before joining any BSM WhatsApp groups.
Please have a look at our Senior School Quick Start Guide to see information and links for all parents. This includes key contact details, where to collect your children and much more.
All BSM school uniform can now be bought from ZAKS.

If you are missing an email from school, please check we have your details correct on our Parent Portal.
We are aware of a few problems with our emails not being received by parents, particularly for Yahoo and Hotmail addresses. To help our emails make it to your inbox we would recommend the following:
Gmail users - emails sometimes go into the 'promotions' tab and occasionally 'spam'. Please check both these folders. To correct, you can just drag and drop one such message to the 'Primary' mailbox and click Yes on the confirmation box for all future messages.
Yahoo & Hotmail users - emails sent to a group (such as a class or year group) are often filtered out as spam by Yahoo and Hotmail. You can avoid this by adding the email addresses below to your contacts. Please also consider providing us with an alternative email address to contact you.
ALL users: Please add the following email addresses to your contacts to ensure our emails get to your inbox:

On their day of a PE lesson, Senior School students should arrive at school wearing their PE kit. They must bring a school uniform to change into at the end of the lesson (to maintain their personal hygiene) unless the lesson is Period 5, in which case, students can go onto their ECA (if appropriate) or go home. Changing rooms will be locked so all personal belongings are safe; although after school, for ECAs, this may not be the case.
On a day when a student has a PE ECA but not a PE lesson, he/she must come to school in school uniform and change into PE kit, after school, in preparation for their activity.
Deodorant is acceptable, however, no glass containers are allowed and aerosol sprays are not permitted.
Here at BSM we recognise that food allergies are a serious concern. 1 in 50 children have an allergy to nuts with some having severe, life threatening reactions (Anaphylaxis). In order to protect our students with severe nut allergies, we have a no nut policy.
We ask that no nuts or nut products are brought into school. This includes:
Any type of nuts
Pesto
Peanut butter
Nutella
Nougat and Marzipan
Sesame seed rolls (we also have children severely allergic to sesame seeds)
Any food items containing nuts - Chocolates, cereal bars, cakes, biscuits etc.
Many thanks for your support with keeping our children safe.
Kind Regards
BSM Nurses
